Welcome to Tongue Twister Tales!
The story of how Pippa the Pekignese and Petey the porcupine
learned—after a rocky start—to respect each other despite their differences.
In the end, Petey gains a new friend and Pippa gains a family.
I hope the text of this book will help strengthen vocabulary skills while
being fun to read for parents and children, alike.
The tale of The Pekingese and the Porcupine came about after I read a story in PEOPLE Magazine about an unlikely animal duo. The feature focused on the friendship between a puppy and a rescued porcupine. They became best mates as they grew up together.
Another inspiration for Petey was "Teddy the Talking Porcupine" on YouTube. Visit Teddy on YouTube and listen to him rant when his owner tries to take away his corncob.
As a child I loved trying to conquer tongue twisters like Peter Piper and his pickled peppers and she who sold sea shells. I hope parents and children will find this tongue twister tale just as enticing.

My paternal Grandmother was a painter and decided I should take art lessons when I was in elementary school. I studied under many well-known local Fort Worth artists and continued classes in college. When my sons were in elementary school, I painted murals for more than 20 years before retiring. Kathy and I met working on a local annual event—and the rest is history. We painted walls, floors and furniture together, becoming friends and having fun!
